A full moon can be enticing because of its beauty, but it is less ideal for aurora viewing because its brightness can wash out any dim colours, making it difficult to see weak or faint aurora displays with the naked eye. However, if the aurora is forecasted to be strong, a full moon can enhance the viewing experience and is beneficial for photography, as its light can illuminate the landscape to create stunning contrast and detail in pictures.

We recommend you look at the moon cycle, weather forecast, and aurora forecast to try to find an ideal night to optimize your chance of having the best aurora experience.
